Race Analysis and Video

from Bermuda Racing 30/10/2024
Eye-catching win for Bermuda Longtail over 7f at Kempton (30/10/24) on just her second career start. Ridden by Jason Watson, this smart filly made all the running and eased home with plenty left in the tank. What an exciting filly she looks to be.

“What a perfect performance by Bermuda Longtail this evening in division 1 of the 7f, 2yo fillies’ novice at Kempton, on only her second start. She broke well and lead from the start all the way to the finish, hardly breaking into a sweat. So much to look forward to, particularly since she showed us tonight that she can step up in distance to a mile. There are of course some important races over this distance that could come into play as a three-year-old!” - Simon Scupham.

It was a taking debut for 2yo filly Bermuda Longtail (in-training with Andrew Balding). By Hello Youmzain - the French-based first-crop stallion who has launched himself onto the sire scene with two Group winners this year - this eye-catching filly was purchased at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale for €220,000 by Highclere Agency and certainly didn't disappoint with her first trip to the track (2nd over 6f at Kempton - 11/10/24).

"We were very happy with Bermuda Longtail's first run at Kempton. Coming a close second despite her being drawn 10 of 10 is quite an achievement, with the high draw being a big disadvantage. A daughter of Hello Youmzain, she was bought at the impressive Arqana Breeze Up sale earlier in the year where she had breezed the fastest of the fillies. We have been patient with her and not wanted to rush her trip to the races, but her class and potential is clear to see. There is so much to look forward to." - Simon Scupham

Naming History

'A symbol of Bermuda' - the iconic Longtail is a white-tailed tropic bird and is a beautiful feature of the Bermuda coastline during the summer months.

Longtails first appear in Bermuda between late February and the end of March. It is for this reason that they are fondly regarded by Bermudians as the harbinger of Spring.
